When deciding on a big move, we’re often told to follow our hearts.
No one usually suggests following our ears instead.
But for Maine native Kyle Lamont, it was her love of music that drove her to pack her bags and cross the country to Los Angeles and a new life.
Before music, it was competitive swimming that took Kyle on her first major adventure.
At just 12 years old, she left the US for the first time and swam the English Channel.
Years later, her swimming talent again led her to new places, this time to the Midwest and a scholarship at the University of Missouri.
When the swimming ended, Kyle found herself the proverbial fish out of water. But she learned something about herself in the process: she could adapt quickly to new environments and yearned for more.
She loved music and eagerly followed her favorite bands around the country in her well-worn Subaru.
After college, she headed back to Maine and worked in photography and journalism, heavily documenting the local music scene.
But the road called again, and looking to get a bigger toehold in the industry, Kyle headed to Hollywood. She now makes her home in Los Angeles, where she’s about to launch her new website focusing on live music venues throughout the country.
