Privacy Policy

This site is run by Mike Siegel for the Travel Tales podcast. It is a small site and it collects very little. This page says exactly what.

What we collect

If you use the contact form: your name, email address, the subject you pick, and your message. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or add you to a mailing list. Submissions are handled by Netlify Forms and are stored in our Netlify account.

If you just read or listen: nothing that identifies you personally is collected by us.

What we don't do

• No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no tracking script.
• No advertising cookies, and no ad network on this site.
• No account system. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to store.
• We do not sell or share personal information with anyone for money.

Services that see your visit

Some things on this site are served by other companies, and they see your request:

• Netlify hosts the site and keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability.
• Captivate serves the audio player and the episode files. If you press play, Captivate receives your request and records it as a download or listen, which is how podcast listener numbers work everywhere. Captivate may set cookies.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.

Each of those companies has its own privacy policy, and their handling of your data is governed by it rather than by this page.

Links off the site

We link out to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, guests' own websites and social accounts, and to the Voyascape network. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else's site and their privacy policy applies.

Your choices

You can browse and listen without giving us anything. If you have used the contact form and want your message deleted, email us and we will delete it. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal data — including, under laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA, the right to ask what we hold, to correct it, or to have it erased. Ask and we will honor it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If what we collect changes — for example if analytics or a newsletter is ever added — this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it.
