As most marketing classes will tell you, there is no better advertising than personal recommendations.
That personal touch is something that Krishna Shivdasani and his sister thought was lacking in major travel apps like Trip Advisor and Yelp. They set out to do something about it.
They created Now You Know, an app where users get recommendations from a handpicked group of friends and creators for restaurants, hotels, activities and more.
Why take advice from people you’ve never met when you can get tips from people whose opinions you respect?
Want to know the best places to eat in a particular London neighborhood? How about a cool boutique hotel in New York that suits your personal vibe? Open up the Now You Know app and see wha your circle has to say.
Krishna, a Mumbai native who splits his time between the US and his homeland, shares his app’s journey from inspiration, to fruition, to what’s planned for the future.
He also shares some interesting Tales of his own: harrowing plane journeys; touring with his father – a professional bridge player; and one of the scariest bachelor party stories we’ve ever heard (hint- it involves a riot and tear gas.)
Sit back, snack on a dosa or two, and let’s take a trip to India and beyond.
Thanks, Krishna!
