There’s something to be said for the old-school methods.
While most people (and certainly most travelers) are never without a camera phone on their person at all times these days, Alex Bogaard cultivated his talent for photography the way many of us did in the pre-digital age – lugging a film camera around wherever he went.
And man did he go to al lot of places!
Born and raised in Europe, Alex’s travel-loving parents showed him the world from a young age, touring extensively throughout the Continent as well as remote (and dangerous) locales in Africa and beyond.
Like most travelers, Alex brought a camera along on his adventures. Post-university, he continued to travel extensively, meeting his American wife in France and eventually following her back to her hometown of Seattle to raise a family. Soon, his many photos began to attract attention.
Positive reaction to his work at a professional travel conference inspired him to take the next step to being a professional photographer.
Soon, his work was being purchased by collectors, shown in galleries, and appearing on professional websites and publications.
He has trekked to Everest Base Camp, toured the back alleys of Havana, and shot the endless landscapes of the American West. Whether he’s photographing people, animals, or land and sea, Alex has an eye for not only getting the shot, but truly appreciating what’s on the other side of the lens.
Thanks, Alex!
