Count former Hollywood camera and visual effects man Dennis Hoerter as one of latter.
When he wasn’t working on blockbuster films like Avatar and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Dennis and his wife made travel a priority in their lives by taking multiple trips worldwide.
Retirement set the stage for even more travel for the couple, but fate had other plans and sadly, Dennis’ wife succumbed to cancer in 2023.
Like it has for many before him, travel helped Dennis heal while also fulfilling his desire to explore. He’s visited over a hundred countries and every continent, and he continues to seek out new experiences and locations.
I recently caught up with Dennis while crossing the Atlantic from New York to England, and he was happy to share his journey as a Kentucky boy who came a long, long way from home.
