April 30, 2026 Angie Orth Nightmare Journey From Maldives
Listen Now

Travel long enough, and eventually it will happen.

For those of us who’ve led the travelers’ life for years and crossed countless borders and time zones, inevitably a journey will arise that tests the limits of patience and expertise.

Longtime travel blogger and previous Travel Tales guest Angie Orth was recently put to the test by the Travel Gods when she tried to return home to Jacksonville, FL from her dream trip on the other side of the world.

Basking in the glow after a dream week scuba diving in the Maldives, Angie suddenly found herself stranded when her flights through the Middle East were canceled after bombs fell on Iran.

What followed were three stress-filled days of finding accommodation, booking flights, and dealing with endless red tape that would make even the most zenned-out monk lose their patience.

After nearly 100 hours of negotiations and re-routed travel through Asia, Angie finally walked through her door, tear-stained, exhausted, and more knowledgeable about travel insurance than she ever cared to be.

Like the true travel pro that she is, Angie emerged smarter and with a heck of a Travel Tale to share. And of course, she’s already planning her next adventure.

And no, it’s not routing through the Middle East this time!
